About the Role: Oula is looking for a full-time Laborist to participate in collaborative care with the Oula midwifery team in the inpatient setting. We’re looking for a thoughtful and passionate leader who will provide obstetrical and postpartum care for patients and collaborate with our midwifery team at Mount Sinai West. This position is 100% clinical and inpatient on the Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Antepartum floors. Obstetrical care entails providing direct patient care for patients who need OB/GYN care, co-management of care with our midwifery team for patients who rise to a higher level of medical risk and have complex labor courses including the need for operative delivery. The Oula Laborist is responsible for ensuring ongoing collaboration with the Oula midwifery team and the MSW Resident/LaboristNursing teams to ensure high quality care is being provided. This position reports to the Oula Medical Director for the NYC Region.

Requirements

MD or DO
Residency in obstetrics / gynecology
At least 3-5 years of experience in obstetrics following residency/fellowship, preferably with a focus on obstetrics
Great patients reviews and reputation for exceptional patient care and bedside manner
Licensed to practice medicine in New York State

Responsibilities

Provide coverage for 14 (12 hour) shifts per month on the MSW Labor & Delivery (L&D) floor as Oula Ob/Gyn which includes caring for Oula patients who need OB/GYN coverage and co-managing patients with the Oula midwifery team. Currently the requirement is to be in house if Oula has patients on the L&D floor.
Cover Oula 1st call shifts as needed in staffing shortages/emergency situations. These shifts to be included in the total 14 count.
Round on, care for and discharge Oula postpartum patients who have had operative deliveries and/or are higher risk patients needing care coordination.
Round on, care for and discharge Oula patients who have been readmitted to the hospital.
Round on, care for and discharge Oula patients on the antepartum service as needed to follow up MFM recommendations.
Participate in the education and training of new midwives, residents and medical and midwifery students.
Other inpatient responsibilities as required by Mount Sinai West for Oula Ob/Gyn providers
