About The Position

The University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking an OB/GYN physician for a full-time inpatient laborist position. The role focuses on overseeing the care of pregnant and postpartum women in the newly renovated Obstetrical Emergency Room (OBER) at the University of Illinois Hospital. This position is primarily day shift-based, with no weekday call required unless specifically requested, emphasizing both emergency and routine care.

Requirements

• MD degree or equivalent.
• Licensed as a physician in Illinois.
• Board Certified/Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Responsibilities

• Provide triage and care for assigned and unassigned OBGYN patients.
• Admit and provide the full spectrum of labor and delivery and postpartum care for obstetric patients.
• Assist in emergent cesarean or deliveries and provide coverage for precipitous births.
• Manage obstetric emergencies such as postpartum hemorrhage.
• Provide coverage for other OBGYN providers during their involvement with additional emergencies.
• Directly supervise residents and students and provide consultative support to CNMs and family physicians.
• Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
