Under the direct supervision of the Chef, the Oak Utility Cook position includes prepping, cooking, placing stock in proper storage areas, rotating stock, cleaning and maintaining work areas and kitchens, and overall production for the Oak Room.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment, utensils, tools and machinery.
  • Knowledge of safe practices in a kitchen working environment.
  • Excellent guest service and communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain organized.
  • Ability to deal effectively and interact well with team members and guests.
  • Ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing conditions.
  • Ability to seek guidance when unsure.

  • Ability to safely use and administer cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Knowledge of basic foods and their uses.
  • Knowledge of all food safety regulations.
  • Ability to learn culinary methods, techniques and principles.
  • Ability to work varied shifts and schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 2 years cooking experience.
  • 1+ years guest service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Cooks and prepares a variety of foods, quantities, styles, according to the established recipe, menu and demand of the business.
  • Uses proper knife skills, cooking techniques, cooking methods and terminology.
  • Reads, understands and follows standardized recipes when preparing all foods for all food venues and outlets.
  • Maintains and communicates food/product needs to ensure safe par levels and proper stock levels.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized and sanitized work area all while following all company, state and federal health/food safety regulations and codes.
  • Ensures that all venues are completely ready to open by designated time set by management.
  • Responsible for all food/storage areas (refrigeration, freezer, and dry storage) are kept clean, organized, labeled and dated.
  • Responsible for all equipment, tools, floors, work stations and food prep areas are kept clean and organized; as well as free from all clutter, trash and non-approved items.
  • Communicates well with team members while maintaining a positive and professional work environment.
  • Remains up-to-date on property events and hours of operation.
  • Cooperates and communicates with all fellow team members, always exhibiting mutual respect and consistently projecting a positive, helpful image/attitude.
  • Assists other team members and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department.
  • Maintains an attitude & philosophy consistent with the company Core Values and Standards of Behavior with internal & external guests.
  • Regular punctual attendance.
  • Ability to work required overtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.
