About The Position

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent for CSO II; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in child support programs, credit collections, investigations, or related fields may substitute for education.
  • Knowledge of investigative practices and techniques.
  • Skill in interviewing and negotiating.
  • Proficiency in using a personal computer for word processing and data entry.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work in person at assigned OAG location and collaborate with coworkers.
  • Ability to arrange personal transportation for business-related travel.
  • Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed investigations to locate absent parents and verify employment.
  • Prepare legal documents to establish or enforce child support orders.
  • Negotiate lump sum payments from noncustodial parents for past due support.
  • Negotiate out-of-court settlements and agreements with parties.
  • Monitor child support cases and refer delinquent cases for enforcement actions.
  • Document all case actions using agency tools, including TXCSES.
  • Review and maintain child support virtual files for accuracy.
  • Attend court to assist legal staff as needed.
  • Research case information using TXCSES.
  • Maintain knowledge of child support policies, Texas Family Law, and federal regulations.
  • Explain Child Support Program policies and procedures to customers.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Assess the validity of complaints against the IV-D program impartially.
  • Serve as Notary Public.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
