The Mechanical System Engineer position requires a subject matter expert (SME) providing technical oversight for various mechanical utility distribution systems and plants. The Mechanical System Engineer will be required to develop a cohesive working relationship with utility system operators and maintenance personnel. The candidate should have extensive knowledge of piping principles, centrifugal pumps and water distribution systems. The candidate’s day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within assigned utility system(s) Provide engineering resolutions for system problems/configuration changes Produce and/or oversee the development of technical documentation that govern the system design, configuration, and operation. Develop a long range strategic plan for improvements to assigned utility system(s) Participate in the development of planned maintenance requirements Support resolution of unplanned events Develop and maintain critical system metrics Participate in project design and implementation process for system related projects Oversee project/system testing to ensure system meets technical requirements and operates at peak performance Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
