Performs a variety of duties related to the preparation, processing and arrangement of surgical instruments and supplies under the direction of a professional registered nurse appropriate to the ages of patients served.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an approved accredited school of Surgical Technology
Ability to maintain/update the computer competencies as required for the position.

Nice To Haves

One (1) year of Operating Room scrub experience.

Responsibilities

Perform routine and special nursing procedures as delegated by the professional registered nurse.
Secures, sets up and prepares the Operating Room equipment, instruments and supplies.
Arranges instruments, tables, stands and other articles in specified order. Adjusts equipment appropriate to the ages of patients served.
Provide and assists in meeting the patient's care needs and appropriate to the ages of patients served.
Organizes time to complete assignments according to specifically assigned responsibilities.
Properly prepares instrumentation following completion of procedures for transport to Central Sterile for reprocessing.
Follows department guidelines in the cleaning and disinfection of furniture/equipment.
Maintains general cleanliness of unit and restocks appropriately.
Reports to Department Director/designee and equipment malfunctions that could affect the standard of care or legal implications.
Verifies accuracy of sponge/needle and instruments on appropriate record.
Performs other duties as assigned.
