About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for NYC Transportation Delivery Lead to join our group in New York City, NY . The New York City office has a large and dynamic project portfolio, and a range of demanding transportation clients. The volume and complexity of work in our NYC office requires full-time effort from a highly-experienced multidisciplinary transportation engineer to drive technical excellence across the portfolio. The NYC Transportation Delivery Lead will oversee our portfolio of NYC Transportation projects and will drive technical excellence, quality, timeliness, and enhanced financial performance, in collaboration with our Project Managers and technical discipline group leaders. The NYC Transportation Delivery Lead will help the NYC Local Business Lead develop plans to meet strategic business goals, identify and manage project risks, and coordinate a bench of Project Delivery Managers (PDMs) who will assist with daily support of our Project Managers. Your Impact Driving Technical Excellence: Work with all transportation disciplines to improve efficiency and delivery of complex multi-discipline projects, ensuring we meet our quality, schedule and budget objectives Drive more sophisticated uses of BIM to enhance design and construction of complex projects Drive development of Alternative Technical Concepts (ATCs) and Value Engineering ideas PM Mentoring: Mentor existing PMs Identify and mentor next generation PM candidates Project Operations: Ensure that Project Managers (PMs) and PDMs are following our Project Delivery Policies and the procedures in our Project Execution Manual (PEM) Achieve consistency in rigor of project kickoff meetings and ongoing risk management Participation in project reviews Developing/maintaining Risk and Opportunity logs; driving mitigations with PMs and PDMs Enhance project margin, quality, and overall delivery performance Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 15+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering
  • Proven project management on billion-dollar projects and risk management expertise across a range of multidisciplinary project types and markets
  • Proven success in developing and implementing structure and culture for Staff development

  • NY Professional Engineer Registration or ability to receive through reciprocity within 9 months; willing to obtain PE registration in other states

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Able to work occasional overtime as required per project.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on client or project-specific requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Project experience with MTA, PANYNJ, and/or NYSDOT
  • Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Experience serving in a senior engineering management rolefor a public agency or AEC firm.
