NYC Showroom Manager

BabylistNew York, NY
Onsite

About The Position

Babylist is looking for a seasoned Showroom Manager to manage our brand new, New York showroom! Whether you're an expecting parent, a grandparent, or a friend to someone having a baby, this is going to be one of the most fun places to be. Located in the heart of SoHo, this unique showroom experience will welcome guests to walk room-by-room to see, touch, and test our vast array of products for life with a baby. This is a fun and immersive opportunity for our users to add products to their registry or stop by our retail shop to pick up curated gifts. As Showroom Manager, you will have the unique and exciting opportunity to bring our strategic vision to life by balancing the onsite operations and communication back to the broader Babylist team. In addition to leading the day-to-day operations, this person will offer critical feedback and learnings to our leadership team on what’s working, where we can elevate, and what customers are saying. Most importantly, they will help create an experience that brings our brand to life and delights users. This role is hands-on and highly visible. If you’re most comfortable operating within established retail playbooks or environments where direction is set centrally and execution is the primary focus, this will be a tough fit. This role requires someone who can build and adapt in real time—balancing operational excellence with a constant eye toward improving the customer experience.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years managing retail or experiential spaces, including ownership of staffing, inventory, and in-store operations
  • Experience opening a new store or launching a physical retail experience for a digitally native brand
  • Proven track record building and scaling teams, including hiring, training, and developing frontline managers and associates
  • Strong operational instincts, with experience managing labor planning, payroll, and store-level P&L inputs
  • Hands-on experience with POS and inventory management systems (e.g., Shopify POS, Lightspeed, or similar), able to troubleshoot and operate independently
  • Experience hosting high-touch in-store experiences, including events or walkthroughs for customers, partners, or press
  • Comfort operating without a fixed playbook, able to prioritize, make decisions quickly, and adjust based on real-time feedback
  • Able to translate customer behavior into actionable insights, improving layout, flow, merchandising, and service experience
  • You're genuinely excited about what AI can do—even in physical retail—and are open to using it to improve operations, insights, and team effectiveness

Responsibilities

  • Launch and operate the New York showroom, ensuring a high-quality, consistent experience across all in-store interactions
  • Build, train, and lead a team of Registry Specialists, Shift Leads, and Brand Ambassadors who deliver a service-first experience
  • Translate company goals into store-level metrics, adjusting staffing, workflows, and processes to meet performance targets
  • Act as the voice of the showroom, sharing real-time insights on customer behavior, product feedback, and experience gaps
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to test and implement new in-store experiences that drive engagement and brand affinity
  • Manage operating costs including payroll and expenses, ensuring efficient and sustainable store performance
  • Maintain high standards for visual merchandising, product presentation, and overall showroom environment
  • Identify and remove friction points in the customer journey, improving how guests navigate, explore, and convert in the space
  • Own day-to-day operations including vendor coordination, facilities management, and issue resolution to keep the showroom running smoothly

Benefits

  • Competitive pay and meaningful opportunities for career advancement
  • We believe technology and data can solve hard problems
  • We're committed to career progression and performance-based advancement
  • Competitive salary with equity and bonus opportunities
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement savings plan with company matching and flexible spending accounts
  • Generous paid parental leave and PTO
  • Perks for physical, mental, and emotional health, parenting, childcare, and financial planning
