What We Can Achieve Together: The Cities Program in New York State builds strategies and initiatives to create a healthy, resilient and sustainable urban environment in NYS cities, with a significant focus on New York City. We work with government and non-government partners on key programmatic areas: tackle climate change, improve water quality in and around cities, promote nature and environmental solutions to enhance the quality of life, and reduce urban heat island and air pollution. We are leading practitioners on the science and policy of the NYC urban forest and we convene Forest for All NYC, a coalition of 200+ member organizations committed to equitably expanding tree canopy across NYC. We’re Looking for You: The NY Cities Team Intern plays a key operational role in enabling the Cities Program team to deliver its conservation impacts more efficiently. By streamlining internal processes and automating workflows, the Intern will help increase staff capacity, improve information flow, and strengthen team agility. The Intern will directly support the team’s ability to advance conservation policy, manage complex projects, and collaborate effectively. Tasks may include but are not limited to: automating a tracker for relevant policy and legislation, setting up a press and media tracker, and leveraging appropriate automation tools for team meeting notes and follow-ups. The Intern will partner closely with their supervisor and team to document current processes, design and/or implement simple no/low-code automations using TNC-approved tools, and deliver user-friendly documentation and demos to the team. This role is ideal for a tech-savvy graduate student interested in strengthening their skills in automation, workflow process design, business operations, or computer science with a mission-driven environmental organization.
