About The Position

We’re in an unbelievably exciting area of tech and are fundamentally reshaping the data storage industry. Here, you lead with innovative thinking, grow along with us, and join the smartest team in the industry. This type of work—work that changes the world—is what the tech industry was founded on. So, if you're ready to seize the endless opportunities and leave your mark, come join us. THE ROLE As a Datastore Drive Qual Engineer, you will be the bridge between raw NAND silicon and high-performance storage solutions, ensuring our DirectFlash Modules (DFM) meet the rigorous standards of enterprise reliability. You will design the Python and C++ frameworks that exercise firmware at scale, transforming complex telemetry into the insights that greenlight volume production. Collaborating across firmware architecture and hardware teams, you will own the validation strategy that defines the next generation of data storage.

Requirements

  • Storage Systems Expertise: Deep understanding of NAND flash fundamentals (program/erase behavior, error mechanisms, and data retention) and SSD firmware architecture, including FTL and garbage collection.
  • Software Engineering Proficiency: Advanced development skills in Python and C++, with a proven ability to build robust automation frameworks, backend systems, or platform infrastructure.
  • Protocol & Validation Mastery: Hands-on experience with NVMe tooling and storage protocols, alongside a track record of qualifying storage devices (SSD/HDD/DFM) through early silicon bring-up and stress testing.
  • Analytical Debugging: Exceptional ability to dive into complex traces and telemetry to root-cause firmware and hardware interactions, coupled with the communication skills to drive cross-functional solutions.
  • Systems Innovation: Experience designing and automating qualification methods that increase test coverage and quality indicators within a CI/CD or large-scale hardware/firmware environment.

Responsibilities

  • Architect Automated Qualification Frameworks: Design and scale Python and C++ test infrastructures that orchestrate drive-level qualification, ensuring firmware stability across performance, endurance, and reliability workstreams.
  • Validate NAND & Firmware Ecosystems: Develop automated workflows to stress-test critical features—including media management, wear leveling, and ECC behavior—translating raw validation data into product-readiness dashboards.
  • Drive Root Cause Analysis: Lead the technical triage of complex failures across the NAND and firmware layers, utilizing logs and telemetry to isolate issues and partnering with architecture teams to implement permanent fixes.
  • Engineer Data Pipelines: Build and maintain high-integrity data collection pipelines that capture system logs and performance metrics, providing the visibility needed for final GA (General Availability) sign-off.
  • Evolve Test Strategy: Continuously improve qualification methodologies and coverage metrics to keep pace with evolving controller architectures and NAND generations, reducing manual intervention through intelligent automation.

Benefits

  • flexible time off
  • wellness resources
  • company-sponsored team events
