About The Position

We are seeking a skilled NVH Test Engineer to join our Drive Unit Team at Tesla, focusing on noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) testing and analysis for powertrain and vehicle systems. This role involves conducting tests on dynos and vehicles, providing critical feedback for risk assessment, design improvements, and psychoacoustic performance. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional design teams to drive continuous improvements in noise reduction while optimizing cost, mass, and complexity across powertrain and vehicle architectures. Perform noise and vibration testing on dynos for drive unit designs and deliver feedback for risk assessment and design enhancements Design and execute vehicle-level NVH tests, producing detailed reports on powertrain performance with analysis of structure-borne and airborne contributions Provide actionable feedback to vehicle design teams on NVH treatments, isolation strategies, and structural improvements for enhanced vehicle noise performance Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on noise reduction while minimizing cost, mass, and complexity in powertrain and vehicle systems Develop, validate, and maintain virtual path analysis data libraries for powertrain and vehicle products using transfer path analysis (TPA) methodologies Interpret CAE simulation risks and correlate them to real-world psychoacoustic performance for design validation Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate test findings into actionable design and engineering solutions

Requirements

  • Expertise in rotational acoustic and vibration principles
  • Experience in physical testing for NVH or durability, preferably with rotating components or complex systems such as rail, aerospace, or energy
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale data acquisition using Siemens TestLab or similar platforms
  • Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for automation and computational tasks
  • Ability to interpret CAE simulation and test data for correlation and validation
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, Physics, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform noise and vibration testing on dynos for drive unit designs and deliver feedback for risk assessment and design enhancements
  • Design and execute vehicle-level NVH tests, producing detailed reports on powertrain performance with analysis of structure-borne and airborne contributions
  • Provide actionable feedback to vehicle design teams on NVH treatments, isolation strategies, and structural improvements for enhanced vehicle noise performance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on noise reduction while minimizing cost, mass, and complexity in powertrain and vehicle systems
  • Develop, validate, and maintain virtual path analysis data libraries for powertrain and vehicle products using transfer path analysis (TPA) methodologies
  • Interpret CAE simulation risks and correlate them to real-world psychoacoustic performance for design validation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate test findings into actionable design and engineering solutions
