About The Position

Provide nutrition assessment, education, and counseling to participants in individual and group settings. The Nutritionist provides services at multiple WIC sites and includes some evening and weekend hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health nutrition, nutrition, foods and nutrition, or nutrition education required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in clinical or community nutrition.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nutrition care to high-risk pregnant/postpartum individuals, infants, and children under the supervision of the senior nutritionist, including all aspects of: Anthropometric and hematological data collection.
  • Dietary assessment, nutritional risk assessment and food package prescription.
  • Counseling and education.
  • Documentation and data entry
  • Referrals to other health and social services
  • Follow-up nutrition education
  • Participates in planning, development, and evaluation of: Educational materials.
  • Group nutrition education workshops.
  • Participant counseling and education strategies.
  • Nutrition in-services and outreach activities.
  • Nutrition policies.
  • Assists senior nutritionist in: Training paraprofessional WIC staff.
  • Conducting quality assurance activities.
  • Communicates with health care community on issues pertaining to participant needs.
  • Provides nutritional care for low-risk applicants and participants as needed.
  • Required to travel regularly throughout the service area, to CAPV office locations.
  • Comply with agency and funders’ paperwork requirements and procedures.
  • Attend regularly scheduled supervision meetings, staff and department-wide meetings, mandatory agency trainings, and participate in professional development activities.
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality.
  • Perform related work as require
