About The Position

Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) is seeking a dependable and team-oriented Nutritional Services Worker to support our Dietary Services team. This role assists with food preparation, meal service, sanitation, and patient meal delivery, ensuring that patients, staff, and visitors receive meals that are safe, timely, and aligned with dietary requirements. Responsibilities include preparing food according to established recipes, maintaining sanitary conditions, supporting café operations, and delivering meals with a focus on excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is reliable, customer-focused, and enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen and hospital environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Kitchen or food service experience preferred, but not required
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification required within 6 months of hire
  • Colorado Food Handler Card required
  • Current AHA BLS (Heartsaver) certification required
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and food safety practices
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing food according to established menus and recipes
  • Portion and assemble meals for patients, staff, and visitors
  • Support cafeteria operations including short-order cooking and food service
  • Ensure food quality, presentation, and proper labeling
  • Assemble and deliver patient trays accurately and timely
  • Follow dietary restrictions and patient identifiers
  • Provide courteous and professional service when interacting with patients
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, equipment, and workstations
  • Follow all HACCP guidelines for food safety and temperature control
  • Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, utensils, and equipment properly
  • Track food inventory, expiration dates, and storage requirements
  • Restock supplies and maintain organized work areas
  • Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries
  • Operate cash register and process transactions
  • Take orders and assist customers in a friendly and efficient manner
  • Maintain a welcoming café environment
  • Cross-train to support Environmental Services (EVS) as needed
  • Assist with department workflow and support team members
  • Adapt to changing needs, including high-volume or short-staffed situations
