About The Position

We are looking for PRN Nutrition Support Aides (NSA)s, who have one of the most important and rewarding jobs in the nursing home by assisting residents with their meals. Our residents look forward to their meal times. They enjoy getting to visit with the people in the dining room – both staff and residents. Our current opening is for evenings and weekends!

Requirements

• Has and maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Complete NSA exam with an 80% or higher.

Responsibilities

• Only assist a resident who does not have a complicated feeding problem such as difficulty swallowing, recurrent aspiration, tube/IV feeding.
• Serve food/fluids either during or between meals
• Provide encouragement and conversation to residents
• Open cartons and condiment packages
• Prepare food to help resident self-feed
• Offer snacks, supplements, and fluids
• Assist a resident drink fluids
• Feed residents
• Record food and fluids intake
• Submit incident/accident reports as required
• Reports physical, mental, and emotional observations of residents to LPN/RN
