About The Position

Meals on Wheels of Southwest OH & Northern KY (MOW) is a leading senior service provider in Greater Cincinnati. Our mission is to deliver essential services that promote the independence of seniors so they may remain in the comfort of their own homes. We are an official member of Meals on Wheels America, and our regional organization is one of the largest in the country. Every year, we reach nearly 10,000 seniors throughout 13 counties with our services. The Meals on Wheels Nutrition Site Assistant is a part-time, days only position in which the Assistant will work at the nutrition site in Cincinnati. Ten paid holidays per year and paid time off accrual starts day one. This position will be dedicated to the Anderson Senior Center located at 7970 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45255. Starting pay is $16 per hour.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma with related kitchen experience or an Associates Degree preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must have or be able to pass the test for ServSafe certification.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to drive your own vehicle from home office to Nutrition Site. (Mileage is reimbursed at IRS rate as applicable.)
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Must have basic computer skills and be able to learn new technology.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check, physical and drug screen, to include marijuana/THC.
  • Physically push and pull carts loaded with meals and other products weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Have the ability to lift in excess of 40 pounds.
  • Have the ability to work in kitchen environment.
  • Have the ability to be aware of surrounding environment.
  • Have the ability to hear and follow instructions.
  • Must be in general good health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Have the ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Sit, bend, lift, move and stand for extended periods of time during working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain paperwork as required.
  • Prepares the meal count for the next day.
  • Communicates with the participants.
  • Receives and serves the food at acceptable temperatures.
  • Conducts fire drills.
  • Provides nutrition training.
  • Assures that the congregate space is cleaned daily.
  • Maintain records of food temps according to policy.
  • Work with volunteers, community partners, and funding monitors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned up to and including participation and attendance at agency events.
