Bethel School District is seeking qualified applicants for a two temporary 3-4 hour per day Nutrition Services Worker for the Nutrition Services program, location to be determined. Nature of Work A Nutrition Services Worker I is responsible for assisting with the operation of a food preparation and service unit by performing a variety of tasks such as preparing menu items, baking, serving, cashiering, dishwashing, directing student helpers, stocking and shelving, wet mopping, sweeping, and general kitchen clean-up after meals are served. Menu items are generally prepared based on established USDA standards on nutritional content and serving quantities. Employees may be assigned to a specific work area, such as food preparation, serving, or dishwashing. After an initial orientation, however, an employee may be required to substitute in a different work area than usually assigned. Work may also involve the safe operation and use of a dishwasher, garbage disposal, stove, oven, proofer, steam table, slicer, mixer, grader and other electrical or mechanical nutrition service equipment. Examples of Work These duties are illustrative only. Other duties may be assigned . Works with co-workers in preparing daily meals; cleans and slices fresh fruit and vegetables; opens and prepares canned fruit and vegetables for serving; shreds, slices, dices and grates foods as required by recipes, menu item or as part of an à la carte preparation; makes sandwiches; bread and rolls; and prepares desserts. Fills dispensers and sets out milk, trays, napkins, straws, condiments, silverware, plates, and other items; sets up steam table and serving area. Works with co-workers to serve the daily meal; serves the proper portion for each student; puts away leftover foods; and cleans and sanitizes serving areas and counters. Checks production sheet to determine quantities needed for individual items; records daily totals of items sold or amount of food supplies used; counts out money needed for next day's cash drawer; and places remaining cash in money bag for pick up. Washes pots, pans, and other food preparation equipment and attachments; loads, operates, and unloads the dishwasher; puts dishes and trays away if not needed; cleans the steam table, counters, and stove top; periodically drains and cleans deep fryer, and replaces frying oil; and sweeps and wet-mops the kitchen floor. As needed, brings supplies from the storeroom, freezer or cooler; puts away supplies when delivered.
