Primary Purpose: Under general supervision, drives a company van or other light truck to perform the pickup and delivery of school district foods and supplies; performs vehicle preventive maintenance and department equipment small repairs as needed. Performs other duties as required. Experience in delivery driving in a school setting is preferred. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Drives a van or light truck, to and from kitchens and school sites. Pick up and deliver school foods (unprepared) and supplies and use proper logs. Pick up and transports school equipment as requested by the Supervisor and/or Director and deliver it to the requesting kitchen or building. Maintain routine records related to all deliveries of Nutrition Services' food, equipment and supplies. Perform daily safety inspection of vehicles and operate vehicle to and from kitchens and school sites, obey traffic laws and observe defensive driving practices: fuel, and inform the Supervisor/Director of any maintenance needed of assigned vehicles. Maintain the records of nutrition services catering items loaned by teachers, principals, Foundation for the Future and/or any department. Clean and maintain all items used for catering events in good condition. Cleans and maintains the Nutrition Services warehouse on a scheduled basis. Performs repairs on any small kitchen or department equipment such as stackable carts, tall rolling carts, warmers/coolers, movable racks and tables, etc. Assist in setting up special catering and department events by moving items to and from the location of the event, cleaning after the event and storing equipment as needed. Utilizes kitchenware such as, but not limited to knife sharpeners, spatulas, tongs, spoons, and ladles. Practices safe food handling according to Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point HACCP and the Galveston County Health District. Assists in the monitoring, reduction, and management of food waste by transporting foods with the highest level of sanitation. Performs weekly cleaning and upkeep of the nutrition services kitchens loading docks, dumpster areas, ceiling tiles, ceiling vents and warehouse to comply with all of Galveston Health District rules and regulations. Assist managers guarding the doors during vendor delivery times to ensure safety & security measures are kept in place. Follows the workday schedule assigned by the supervisor and when idle, remains at the assigned campus, assisting with cafeteria duties. Performs related duties as assigned.
