About The Position

The Nutrition Services Assistant at ProMedica Flower Hospital is responsible for ensuring the delivery of food services to patients, employees, and visitors while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the food service areas. This part-time position involves various duties including food preparation, tray delivery, and customer service in the cafeteria, all while adhering to safety and sanitation policies.

Requirements

• Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively.
• Effective interpersonal skills to respond to inquiries and verbalize information to customers about product and/or recipe contents.

Responsibilities

• Perform area specific assigned duties to ensure food service to patients, employees, and visitors.
• Maintain area and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Use proper technique for pulling and rotating stock and labeling and dating of foods.
• Maintain foods at proper temperatures to assure safety and freshness following H.A.C.C.P. principles.
• Prepare and deliver patient nourishments to the patient care area.
• Deliver meals to patient rooms and communal areas.
• Perform various duties after tray service such as pre-setting trays, washing carts, and readying foods for the next meal.
• Scrape, soak, wash, and sanitize pots and pans, checking for cleanliness and sorting for delivery to assigned areas.
• Operate and maintain pot machine and record temperatures.
• Dispose of trash and maintain cleanliness and order of areas, following sanitation codes.
• Provide fast, friendly, accurate, and clean service to cafeteria customers.
• Prepare foods and set up service area as designed by timeline.
• Operate cash register according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Perform minimal cooking methods to obtain a quality end product.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation for production and all other dietary areas according to designated outlines.
