About The Position

The Nutrition Educator position at the Florida Department of Health in Broward County is a professional public health role focused on providing nutrition assessment and counseling for the WIC program. The educator will work under the supervision of the Public Health Nutrition Supervisor, delivering individual and group nutrition education to clients, promoting breastfeeding, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This role is hybrid-remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nutritional Science, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, or Dietetics.
• Current employee of Florida Department of Health including OPS, Career Service, SES or SMS employees.
• Willingness to work early mornings, late evenings, and Saturdays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group nutrition assessment and education to WIC clients.
• Assist clients in setting measurable and obtainable nutrition goals.
• Promote and support breastfeeding among WIC clients.
• Document all client contacts in the WIC Data System.
• Determine client eligibility according to DHM 150-24 rules and regulations.
• Perform anthropometric measurements and hematological testing for WIC clients.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and development activities as required.
• Complete necessary reports such as leave, attendance, and travel.
