It is an exciting time at the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) as we continue to undertake our mission. We know that creating long term solutions to food security requires more than meals. It requires education, training, and collaboration. We are seeking people with strong ideas and a passion to come together to address the complex interrelated issues of food security, poverty, and equity. We are expanding in multiple ways: providing food for today and addressing the root causes of hunger by partnering with organizations that provide critical services like job training programs, health care and education. Food has the power to transform lives and move everyone forward. Find out how on our website at capitalareafoodbank.org. Let us discuss how food is at the center of everyone's healthy life! The Nutrition Education Specialist will develop, facilitate, and manage core nutrition education and food promotion programming and help maintain our food inventory database. The Specialist will directly implement ongoing partner-focused food promotion activities including food demonstrations/samplings on and off site, educational displays, virtual/in person classes and workshops and videos for our recipe card library. They also will collaborate with community health partnerships that align with CAFB initiatives, develop educational materials, program curricula, and ensure work is collaborative across the organization. The Nutrition Education Specialist will develop and teach several nutrition education initiatives in our teaching kitchen and in the community. They will also run our healthy pantry initiative for our partners, assist with administrative tasks related to our partners and clients and work with our Food Growing Specialist on joint activities and initiatives.
