THIS WORK MATTERS! Join us at Multnomah County Health Department, where we are seeking individuals who embody leadership, achievement, and action in a dynamic and ever-evolving environment. Our mission is at the heart of everything we do: to collaborate with communities, advance health equity, safeguard the most vulnerable, and foster health and wellness for all. Guided by our core values of Compassion and Care, Empowerment, Racial Equity, Creativity, and Integrity, we strive to create a workplace culture characterized by respect, trust, and understanding for the incredibly diverse populations we serve in our communities. The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program is a diverse and equity-driven program focusing on nutrition education, breastfeeding support, health and diet screening, growth and development monitoring, and health and social services referrals, as well as providing monthly healthy food benefits for pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children up to five years of age. WIC serves families from many cultures and ethnic traditions, languages, backgrounds and abilities. It is designed to promote positive health outcomes, strengthen life course nutrition and health, and reduce health disparities in the populations we serve. This On-Call WIC Nutrition Assistant completes the certification process, providing health screenings, nutrition education and counseling, and lactation support for diverse families. The role involves performing community referrals, connecting participants with local resources and facilitating group classes. All services are delivered using participant-centered, culturally sensitive communication to foster an inclusive and respectful environment.
