About The Position

The Food Rescue Associate plays a key role in Operation Food Search’s mission to heal hunger by ensuring that healthy food reaches children, families, and individuals in need. This position is responsible for assisting with daily warehouse operations, including organizing and preparing orders for distribution. The role also includes safely and efficiently rescuing food donations from retail partners, transporting products, and delivering food to community partners and program sites. The associate represents Operation Food Search in the community and maintains strong relationships with donors, partners, and volunteers.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; CDL preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of professional driving, delivery, or logistics experience.
Knowledge of safe food handling practices is preferred.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Comfortable performing physical tasks and managing a movement-heavy workload.
Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, and respond quickly to changing needs.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Willingness to assist with tasks across the organization.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Reliable, punctual, and mission driven, with strong follow-through.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks requiring bending, climbing, standing for extended periods, and use of cleaning equipment.
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed for offsite errands or vehicle support).
Occasional evening or weekend availability may be requested for emergency response or special events.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors.
Frequent driving and lifting in a variety of weather conditions.
Regular interaction with donors, partner agencies, and the public.
Standard work hours with occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends.

Responsibilities

Prepare and stage orders for agency partners, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Safely operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
Support inventory control by assisting with counts, labeling, and data entry as needed.
Work collaboratively with warehouse and program staff to meet daily distribution goals.
Safely operate box truck, sprinter van, and other OFS vehicles to complete assigned routes.
Rescue donated food and products from grocery stores, food distributors, and other partners while ensuring accurate documentation of pounds collected.
Deliver food and supplies to partner agencies and program sites in a timely and professional manner.
Load and unload products using pallet jacks, lift gates, and other equipment as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicles and equipment.
Ensure all deliveries meet food safety and quality standards, including proper handling of perishable items.
Accurately complete route logs, delivery records, and donation receipts.
Provide excellent customer service to donors, partner agencies, and community partners while acting as an ambassador of OFS’s mission.
Report on vehicle maintenance needs, accidents, or safety concerns promptly.
Follow all traffic laws and OFS policies.
