About The Position

The University of Vermont is seeking a Nutrient Cycling & Ecological Design Research Coordinator to oversee, coordinate, and supervise operations of two research entities: the Nutrient Cycling & Ecological Design Laboratory (NCED Lab) and the Casella Center for Circular Economy & Sustainability. The role involves providing functional supervision to laboratory employees, planning and coordinating multiple grant-funded projects, conducting advanced analysis, leading data analysis efforts, and serving as lead author on publications. Additionally, the coordinator will develop project work plans for the Casella Center, engage stakeholders, oversee student competitions, manage budgets, and ensure effective communication with sponsors.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in environmental science or engineering.
  • Five years of relevant experience in environmental science/engineering research and project management.
  • Experience in grant reporting and budget tracking.
  • Experience supervising employees and providing team leadership.
  • Familiarity with research principles, biogeochemistry methods, and field sampling methods.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple complex projects.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate operations of the NCED Lab and Casella Center.
  • Provide functional supervision to laboratory employees, including staff and students.
  • Plan, schedule, and prioritize multiple external grant-funded projects.
  • Coordinate and supervise sample collection from various field sites.
  • Conduct advanced analysis of laboratory quality control data.
  • Lead data analysis and modeling efforts.
  • Serve as lead author on peer-reviewed publications.
  • Communicate with sponsors and prepare grant reports.
  • Develop project work plans for the Casella Center.
  • Engage key stakeholder groups in project execution and events.
  • Coordinate undergraduate student research/design competitions.
  • Manage budgets and expenditures for the Center.
  • Provide supervision to staff and students as needed.
