About The Position

Regions Hospital is hiring a critical thinking, adaptable, peaceful and organized individual to join the Emergency Department as a Nursing Unit Support Coordinator! The Emergency Department is a certified Level One Trauma Center that serves a wide range of patients with both acute and chronic health crisis with an average patient volume of 80,000-93,000 patients annually. This role entails working in a fast-pace environment partnering with the Nurse Managers to ensure the scheduling needs of the unit are met. The responsibilities include, developing and implementing of schedules for RN, PCA, HUC, MHT, Managers, and Supervisors using automated scheduling software, ensuring that adequate levels are in accordance with established criteria, guidelines, and requirements based on current staff hired on the unit, communicating schedules with staff, working with the automated payroll system and processing staff timecards, actively assisting Nurse Managers to secure replacements with unscheduled staff absences (other than the 24-hour period), and performing administration support and other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule/FTE:.8 FTE (32 hours a week) working weekdays 11am-7:30pm. This position does require that someone is flexible to cover for PTO and has to work every other Sunday to process payroll. This role is in-person at the hospital.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: four (4) years secretarial or medical office experience.
  • Ability to function independently, organize and prioritize.
  • Knowledge of business English.
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures, practices and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and maintain effective working relationships with management, department staff and ancillary personnel.
  • Knowledge of dynamics of group processes.
  • Ability to be flexible, patient and attentive to details.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to organize and maintain accurate electronic and paper filing systems.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and related applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Knowledge of MyTime software for scheduling and timecard editing.
  • Ability to adapt well to a fast-paced environment and stay calm under pressure.
  • Ability to manage time to meet scheduling deadlines.
  • Ability to make contingency plans well in advance to cover staff shortages due to planned leaves of absence.

Nice To Haves

  • healthcare and/or hospital experience is highly preferred.
