Requirements
- High school or equivalent plus specialized, short-term training in medical / surgical patient care or the delivery of special care.
- One to three years' experience preferred.
- Receives on-the-job training and competency verification to perform primary functions.
- Completion of a PHS Non-Licensed Assistive Personnel course or similar training required prior to entering classification.
- Formal medical technician or military training preferred.

Responsibilities
- The Nurse Tech performs specific patient care procedures (such as, phlebotomy, wound care, gastric and urethral tube insertion and bedside testing) under the direction of a licensed Nurse and / or performs specific support-procedures for the operation of the Med Surg Department.
- Operates patient monitoring systems.
- Coordinates equipment and/or supply systems.
