About The Position

The Hospital at Home Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The Hospital at Home Nursing Support Technician role is a hybrid role combining both clinical patient care and administrative support tasks. The role includes (but is not limited to) phlebotomy, assisting nurses with admissions and discharges, delivering, setting up, and collecting equipment upon admission/discharge, mobile medical supply courier services, and managing supply inventory in the clinical command center and mobile fleet vehicles. Tech provides patient care within their defined scope of practice that includes patient care, monitoring and observation, in-home patient assessments, clinical and social screenings, clinical interventions, patient education, and participates in telehealth visits from the patient's home while connecting with the physician or virtual command center via Telehealth. Skills that are beyond the scope of this position whether with certification or licensure (i.e. EMT) cannot be utilized for this position: Medication administration including code drugs Intubation Tracheal suctioning

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • American Heart Association BLS certification
  • Minimum of one year previous patient care experience with experience in phlebotomy
  • Must have valid driver’s license and ability to drive to patient location as part of daily job duties. At point of hire and annually, required to have a valid driver’s license and an annual driving abstract

  • Illinois Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) or Illinois Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT-P)
  • CNA certification

Responsibilities

  • Works in collaboration with Registered Nurses and other members of the care team in providing direct in-home patient care activities including clinical assessment, phlebotomy, obtaining vital signs, assisting patients in need of intervention, and participates in telehealth visits from the patient's home while connecting with the physician or virtual command center via Telehealth.
  • Safely coordinates, transports and sets up equipment and supplies per patient needs.
  • Documents appropriate assessment, interventions, and other pertinent patient information in a timely manner
  • Identifies, reports, provides care and documents patient problems in collaboration with the physicians, nurses, and the technical staff.
  • Assists physicians, nurses, and technical staff in providing appropriate patient education including the use of appropriate educational materials.
  • The Tech interacts with patients, families, nursing, and a variety of interdisciplinary personnel and possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills, a willingness for collaboration within a multidisciplinary team, and clinical proficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
