About The Position

The Nursing Support Aide is responsible for performing indirect care for residents. This includes assisting with resident and family orientation upon admission and transfers, ensuring resident safety, effective communication with residents, maintaining a clean environment, delivering mail, responding to call bells and relaying needs to nurses or CNAs, and efficient use of supplies. The role also involves transporting residents, making beds, handling soiled linen, cleaning specific items like bed pans, running errands, directing visitors, answering telephones, assisting with resident living areas and clothing, helping with meal trays and snacks, passing ice and water, stocking supplies, and participating in resident activities. Additionally, the aide coordinates tasks with other personnel, reports information to supervisors, provides excellent customer service to various stakeholders, promotes EverTrue services, and participates in assigned meetings and committees.

Requirements

Verbal and numerical skills to read, write, and orally communicate with co-workers and residents
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to push/pull 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

Performs indirect care for residents.
Assists with orienting residents and their families to Evertrue upon admission and to the department when transfers occur.
Observes safety rules to protect residents from injury, abuse, and promotes the highest level of quality care for each resident.
Communicates and interacts effectively with the residents.
Assists in maintaining a safe, neat and clean environment; cleans resident’s drawers, closets, storage areas, and utility rooms.
Delivers mail.
Answers residents’ call bells in a timely manner and conveys residents’ needs to a licensed nurse or a certified nursing assistant within the scope of their responsibilities.
Practices careful, efficient and non-wasteful use of supplies, linen and equipment.
Assists to transport residents via wheelchair to activities, therapy, etc., as required.
Makes unoccupied beds and distributes linens.
Handles soiled linen.
May be assigned to clean, disinfect and store bed pans, bedside commodes, urinals and other supplies.
Runs errands, directs visitors and answers telephone.
Assists in maintaining resident’s living area and personal clothing.
Assists in servicing and picking up resident meal trays; monitors residents during mealtime; assists certified nursing assistants in passing snacks and nourishment as requested.
Passes ice and water to residents.
Stocks supplies.
Participates in resident activities.
Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other units and departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate personnel.
Provides excellent customer service by interacting and responding to needs/requests/issues of employees, families, contractors, colleague agencies, volunteers, visitors and or the general public.
Maintains awareness of all services offered by EverTrue; takes appropriate action to actively promote, support and communicate them to prospective clients, residents and families.
Participates in meetings and on task forces, committees, etc., as assigned.
