About The Position

The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for providing clinical leadership, guidance, and oversight to field nurses within their assigned caseload. This role ensures high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and strong communication between families, nurses, physicians, and the CNS administrative team. The Supervisor will conduct home visits (as needed), competency assessments, and clinical record reviews; assist with onboarding and ongoing education; and serve as a key resource for clinical problem-solving and patient advocacy.

Requirements

  • Active unencumbered Maryland RN license
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience; pediatric or home care experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong assessment skills and comfort working independently in the field.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to travel throughout assigned region for supervisory visits.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory, case management, or preceptor experience.
  • Experience with trach, ventilators, G-tubes, or medically complex pediatric populations.
  • Familiarity with Maryland RSA regulations and home care standards of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervisory visits in accordance with Maryland RSA regulations and CNS policy.
  • Support field nurses with clinical guidance, troubleshooting, and real-time problem solving.
  • Review and update Plan of Care documentation in collaboration with physicians.
  • Monitor patient condition changes and ensure appropriate communication and follow-up.
  • Complete chart audits, documentation reviews, and clinical assessments.
  • Ensure nursing care adheres to all regulatory, policy, and payer requirements.
  • Participate in incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action planning.
  • Support patient safety initiatives and continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Assist with the orientation of newly hired nurses and ongoing competency validation.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and mentorship to promote growth and confidence.
  • Support implementation of CNS training programs.
  • Build trusting relationships with families, providing education and support.
  • Collaborate with scheduling, HR, and administrative teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in care conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, and internal leadership meetings.
  • Promote a positive, solutions-focused, respectful work environment.
  • Uphold CNS core values and model professional communication and accountability.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as needed for urgent after-hours clinical support.
