About The Position

As the Nursing Supervisor, you oversee daily nursing operations, provide hands-on clinical support, and ensure residents receive safe, effective, and dignified care. You coordinate staffing, monitor resident conditions, support care delivery, and coach nursing staff in their performance.

Requirements

  • LPN with a current Indiana license required; RN preferred.
  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment and assessment skills.
  • Effective communication, organization, and interpersonal leadership.
  • Understanding of aging, long-term care best practices, and resident rights.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and support team growth.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory or charge nurse experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate resident care; provide direct care as needed.
  • Conduct goal-directed resident rounds to monitor condition, care delivery, safety, and infection control practices.
  • Receive and respond to reports of changes in resident condition and initiate appropriate follow-up.
  • Support admissions, room changes, transfers, and discharges for a smooth transition of care.
  • Make physician calls and provide nursing consultation for resident-specific needs.
  • Supervise, coach, and support CNAs, QMAs, LPNs, and RNs during assigned shifts.
  • Assist with staffing assignments and floating to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Lead by example through bedside support, mentoring, and on-the-floor education ("at-the-elbow" coaching).
  • Contribute to onboarding and training; identify development needs and encourage growth.
  • Monitor care practices to ensure compliance with state, federal, regulatory, and HIPAA standards.
  • Audit documentation and communicate findings to DON/ADON.
  • Participate in QAPI, PIPs, and improvement efforts around falls, skin integrity, nutrition, pain, infections, readmissions, etc.
  • Support infection control, medication practices, and safe use of equipment and lifting devices.
  • Actively participate in IDT and departmental meetings; communicate updates as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to support timely resident care needs.
  • Promote a positive environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Report concerns, risks, complaints, or safety issues promptly to DON/ADON.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and monitor compliance with safety practices.
  • Support emergency response efforts and document incident/accident reports as required.
