About The Position

Grand Canyon University is seeking a dedicated individual to provide academic support and mentoring to pre-licensure nursing students. This role involves offering personalized study tips, time management strategies, and coaching based on HESI data. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team of nurse educators focused on student success. The position is remote, with a target hire date of December 1, 2025, and a schedule of Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm AZ time.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • 3 years of recent nursing experience required.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English required for verbal communication; English fluency required for written communication.
  • 2 years of experience providing support in precepting, tutoring, training, instruction, advising, or academic support services preferred.
  • Active, current, and unencumbered Arizona or multi-state RN Licensure required.
  • Ability to use different teaching methods and transmit information in an accessible manner.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively mentor, tutor, and guide students.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in classroom instruction preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic support to students by reviewing best practices in study skills and matching resources to study needs.
  • Assist students with learning in various content areas including pathophysiology, pharmacology, and fundamental nursing knowledge.
  • Use strong communication skills and active listening to provide feedback and develop individualized plans for success.
  • Assess students’ strengths and areas of improvement through strong assessment skills.
  • Provide consistent guidance to students that align with course content and outcomes.
  • Meet with students regularly to monitor utilization of remediation strategies.
  • Coach students in test-taking skills and preparation for all course and standardized exams.
  • Assess student needs through data analysis and interview techniques to deliver tailored coaching.
  • Maintain documentation of student remediation plans and processes.
  • Preserve lines of communication with program faculty and director, including attendance in select faculty meetings.
