Nursing Student Extern
About The Position
The Extern performs specific task related to patient care directed and supervised by a Registered Nurse, LPN, Nurse Manager and Clinical Instructor. The Extern will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient. The Extern will demonstrate understanding of the unique physical and psychological needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and possess the ability to assess date reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information necessary to provide quality care under the direction of designated Nurse Preceptor. Utilization of Externs will not have an impact on staffing. Nurse Externs will start June 1st, 2026 - graduation.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a BSN or ADN program and scheduled to graduate the following year.
- Will have a satisfactory academic record.
- High School Diploma Required
- Must have completed 2 semesters or 3 quarters of clinical nursing experience prior to the start of the summer program.
