This position is 56 hours every two weeks on the Day shift, for 8 hour shifts, and every other weekend, and is eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, and more. About this Unit: The 3rd Floor Orthopedic Surgical Specialty unit at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital is a newly built, 26-bed adult medical/surgical unit focused on total joint replacement and post-operative recovery. Staff also care for a variety of medical patients, offering broad exposure to different diagnoses and care needs. With a healthy, team-oriented work environment and strong support from leadership and education specialists, this unit is ideal for those who thrive in collaborative, fast-paced settings and are eager to grow their skills in orthopedic care. Job Responsibilities The Nursing Station Technician is responsible for assisting the professional caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and / or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, reordering, and stocking supplies. Performs a wide range of clerical, transcription, and maintenance of patient care unit desk area functions. Coordinates the flow of communication on a patient care unit. The NST does not work autonomously but under the direction of the professional nurse. They may or may not be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager / charge nurse. The Nursing Station Technician is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties. In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fast paced unit. Other job duties include: Patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding Maintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering tests Setting up and maintaining patient rooms Ordering and stocking of supplies Performs other tasks as needed.
