About The Position

Fairview is looking for a Nursing Station Technician (CNA/HUC) at The University of Minnesota Medical Center-East Bank in Minneapolis, MN! This position is 0.6 FTE (48 hours per two weeks), 12 hour shifts on the NIGHT shift with an every third weekend rotation. Are you looking to experience a range of different units at UMMC? The University of Minnesota Medical Center represents an integrated academic health care system and located on both the East and West banks of UMMC campus in Minneapolis. It is the flagship facility of Fairview providing breakthrough medicine and redefining the health of our community. The Nursing Station Technician (NST) is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties. In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, collaboration and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. The NST is responsible for assisting the professional caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining rooms, reordering, and stocking supplies. In addition, the NST will maintain unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering test.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required
  • Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program
  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting
  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire
