UofL Health is excited to offer the Nursing Scholar Program which provides educational assistance to students pursuing a prelicensure nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing. UofL Health is dedicated to investing in the future of our current and upcoming employees and is willing to provide educational support to assist in the obtainment of an RN degree. The UofL Health Scholar program awards up to $24,000 tuition benefit for a two-year work commitment. Program Overview • The scholar program awards tuition assistance up to $24,000 max benefit. • Work commitment is based on the total award received - $24,000 for two-year commitment. • Scholars commit to work for UofL Health in a direct-care RN role upon graduation. • Scholars will receive and must complete a 1099 as an IRS requirement. • Loan forgiveness program of $1,000 a month after starting full time RN role Benefits for Scholars • Do not need to work for UofL Health while in school • Preferential placement for UofL Health Nurse Extern Program • U World Access for NCLEX Prep • Preferential placement upon graduation Application Requirements • Accepted and enrolled in accredited nursing program • Baseline 3.0 GPA • Two letters of recommendation (One Academic and one personal) • Resume or CV • 1000-word Essay Essay Requirements 1000 Word Essay written in APA format, answering the following questions. • What does it mean to you to be a nurse? • What are your educational goals? • What are your visions and goals for a successful nursing career? • How would this scholar program help you achieve your educational goals? • Discuss any personal accomplishments or achievements • Discuss any past medical experiences, volunteer opportunities or internships you have completed Scholar Requirements • Maintain 3.0 GPA • Meet all deadline and scholar program requirements • Successful completion of nursing program • Pass NCLEX within sixty days of graduation • Commit to direct-care RN position within sixty days of graduation. • Direct RN role for twenty-four months • Meet all onboarding requirements • Complete UofL Health Nurse Residency Program • UofL Health Scholar participation does not guarantee employment Unsuccessful completion of nursing program and termination requires repayment Additional Job Description: UofL Health is a fully integrated regional academic health system with nine hospitals, four medical centers, Brown Cancer Center, Eye Institute, nearly 200 physician practice locations and more than 1,000 providers in Louisville and the surrounding counties, including southern Indiana.
