The Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS) leads system-level nursing education programs and professional development initiatives. The NPDS functions autonomously and in collaboration with nursing staff, leadership, Clinical Resource Nurses, faculty, and researchers to develop, implement, and evaluate programs that enhance role competence, professional growth, and lifelong learning in diverse practice settings. The NPDS promotes synergistic practices to achieve optimal patient outcomes, advances educational practices based on Harris Health’s Nursing Professional Practice Model and strategic plan, and ensures compliance with standards from professional nursing organizations, national, state, and local regulatory agencies, and institutional policies. The NPDS mentors staff, role models professionalism, and upholds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
