About The Position

The scope of responsibility and accountability for the Nursing Professional Development Practitioner (NPDP) aligns with professional standards and continuously evolves to meet the demands of the practice setting. The NPDP is a registered nurse (RN) with NPD practice judgement and expertise who influences professional role competence and growth of learners in a variety of settings with a desired outcome of improved population health. The term “practitioner” is used in this specialty only in conjunction with NPD as a title. (Maloney & Harper, 2021, p. 29)

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont is required.
  • BSN required.
  • Experience as a clinical preceptor required.
  • 5 years of nursing experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in nursing education preferred.
  • Certification in clinical practice/specialty practice preferred.
  • Certification in clinical practice/specialty practice preferred.
  • For Central NPDPs: BSN Required Nursing Professional Development Board Certification required or is currently eligible to sit for this certification.
  • 2 years in a department-based (unit or clinic) nursing professional development practitioner role is strongly preferred.
  • 5 years of nursing experience in the applicable clinical specialty strongly preferred.
