The North Dakota Surgery Center has an opening for a Nurse Manager position! Come join Sanford Health's growing team in the Grand Forks region! This position manages the day-to-day operations for nursing staff and nursing activities for the surgery department, including patient care, record keeping, and personnel issues. The Nurse Manager is responsible for implementing the mission, vision, policies, goals, and objectives of the organization and the nursing/clinical services within their area(s).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred.
  • Must have at least three years' experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a clinical role.
  • Two years leadership/management experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care.
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Obtains and maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in outpatient surgery settings.
  • Certification in specialty or service area is encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day operations for nursing staff and nursing activities for the surgery department.
  • Responsible for implementing the mission, vision, policies, goals, and objectives of the organization.
  • Supports the nursing staff in performing the clinical roles of patient educator, caregiver, counsellor, consultant, and patient advocate.
  • Monitors patient care areas and other facilities for cleanliness and readiness.
  • Assigns patients to available nursing staff, considering the patient's condition and the employee's skill level.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary committees and shared governance councils within the outpatient setting.
  • Acts as liaison between nursing, other disciplines, and administration.
  • Oversees and assists with scheduling of nursing staff and managing productivity levels.
  • Develops trusting relationships with staff and patients by demonstrating an empathetic and professional attitude.
  • Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members.
  • Measures employee performance and maintains current certifications in specialty.
  • Implements established performance improvement policies and trains employees on these policies.
  • Assists with providing feedback in the collection and preparation of budget information.
  • Oversees inventory levels and supplies for the department.
