About the position

The Nursing Lecturer/Faculty position at Sul Ross State University involves providing quality education for nursing students in the BSN Program. Faculty members can be appointed in full-time or part-time roles, with full-time faculty expected to meet all teaching expectations. The majority of faculty are part-time, focusing on teaching specific courses or providing clinical supervision. Both full-time and part-time faculty are expected to participate in faculty governance, curriculum development, and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain current knowledge in area of expertise.
• Provide direct supervision and clinical guidance to assigned students.
• Demonstrate competency in content area and in development, presentation, and evaluation of instruction.
• Demonstrate clinical expertise and maintain safety principles in designated teaching area.
• Participate in departmental matters such as curriculum development and textbook selection.
• Assist students in leading and participating in debriefing sessions.
• Develop instructional materials following syllabus guidelines.
• Satisfy expected teaching responsibilities for assigned courses utilizing appropriate technology.
• Maintain and certify class rosters, grade books, and submissions of final grades.
• Evaluate student performance in a reasonable manner according to program guidelines.
• Create an environment conducive to learning and stimulate student thinking.
• Establish and support ongoing relationships with the community to address rural health needs.

Requirements

• Masters Degree in Nursing.
• Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas or State of residence.
• Evidence of having met faculty criteria designated by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Nice-to-haves

• PhD in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) or other related doctorate.
