Great Basin College is hiring for a full-time, 9-month non-tenure nursing faculty position. Inspire the next generation of nurses! Requirements

  • Education: Master’s in Nursing (MSN) OR a BSN with enrollment in an MSN program within one year of hire. Degrees must be from an ACEN or CCNE-accredited program.
  • Experience & Licensure: Minimum 3 years of RN experience (preferably in medical/surgical, acute care, or community health).
  • Eligible for Nevada RN licensure (licensure required upon hire).
  • Skills & Attributes : Passion for teaching and mentoring nursing students.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to oversee students in clinical settings.
  • Contract - 9 month (end of August to mid May) working contract paid over 12 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience is a plus
  • Experience with distance learning and online instruction is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the AAS Nursing and RN-BSN programs (lecture, online, and clinical).
  • Provide hands-on instruction in simulation labs and clinical environments.
  • Evaluate student performance and ensure achievement of learning outcomes.
  • Participate in curriculum development, accreditation activities, and student advisement.
  • Contribute to the nursing department and college committees.
  • Support the CNA program as needed.
  • Travel The position may require driving to other GBC campuses, with or without reasonable accommodation as per the Americans with Disabilities Act, with possible overnight stays to coordinate students and programs throughout the service area. There must be a commitment to the GBC mission to serve rural Nevada. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in several state-wide or national meetings each year that require overnight travel.

  • Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee’s spouse or domestic partner.
