About The Position

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES : Provide theory and clinical instruction for Associate Degree Nursing Program in the areas of Nursing. Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the total nursing curriculum. Serve as a liaison between health agencies and the College. Will be assigned to teach in the ADN Nursing Program at the various campuses. Familiarity with online and interactive TV instruction desired. CREDENTIAL : Hold a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse and be free from any disciplinary action by the California Board of Registered Nursing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in Nursing required by the Board of Registered Nursing: (1) A master’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university in nursing; OR Bachelor’s in nursing AND Master’s in health education or health science OR the equivalent (Must apply through YCCD’s Equivalency Application Process) . OR the minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher; AND (2) Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which he or she is assigned, which can be met by: (A) One (1) year’s continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area; OR (B) One (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency. Assistant Instructor: A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college which shall include courses in nursing, or in a natural, behavioral or social science relevant to nursing practice; Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which he or she is assigned, which can be met by: (A) One (1) year’s continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area ; or (B) One (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency. Clinical Teaching Assistant: A clinical teaching assistant shall have at least one (1) year continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience in the designated nursing area within the previous five years (5) as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
