Requirements

  • a master’s degree in nursing (the transcripts you are attaching must show that the degree was awarded)
  • a current, active California license as a Registered Nurse
  • at least one (1) year of experience teaching courses related to registered nursing OR have completed a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing
  • at least two (2) years of continuous, full-time experience within the last five (5) years in a direct patient care practice as a registered nurse OR as a clinical instructor
  • demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff
  • a fully satisfied, lifetime California Community College credential authorizing instruction/service in the appropriate subject matter
  • the equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to perform complex technical tasks in a laboratory and classroom setting interacting effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Simulation Educator Certification, such as the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator ( CHSE ) and/or continuing education in the advanced principles of simulation.
  • Familiarity with the scope of practice of programs offered within NAAH .
  • Patient care experience in medical surgical or higher acuity nursing.
  • Experience developing, running, debriefing, and evaluating simulations.
  • Commitment to examine, reflect, and modify instructional, relational, classroom practices to more effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with a goal of closing equity gaps (see Student Equity website at https://www.miracosta.edu/student-services/student-equity/index.html ).
  • Ability to contribute to the mission of the college.
