About The Position

Faculty members are responsible for the delivery of quality education services. This entails engaging students, fostering learning, role modeling professionalism, and ultimately producing competently trained students prepared for professional careers. This includes working with the Associate Director of Nursing over the assigned cohort, the Director of Nursing, and other campus faculty and staff to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery of assigned courses.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an earned Bachelor's degree with a major in nursing (BSN or equivalent) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current, active, and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license issued by the Florida Department of Health.
  • Current and active Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and analytical skills.
  • Excellent teaching skill and ability to efficiently manage students' clinical and skills lab activities.
  • Computer literacy skills including functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage people and projects.
  • Knowledgeable in the course content.
  • Effective in directing and evaluating student learning and lab performance.
  • Prepared in Educational Theory and Techniques.
  • A willingness to follow high ethical standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree with a major in nursing (MSN or equivalent) from an accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

  • Become ATI Champions within 90 days of hire date.
  • Prepare course plans and materials.
  • Deliver course lectures/facilitate labs and/or clinical rotations.
  • Monitor equipment and supply needs.
  • Maintain classroom.
  • Seek out an approved substitute in case of faculty member's need for absence.
  • Enforce HCI policies (attendance, dress code, clinical policies, etc.).
  • Participate in orientation, graduation, and pinning ceremonies.
  • Work on retention plans and program development.
  • Attend staff and faculty meetings.
  • Participate in committees and knowledge sharing forums.
  • Facilitate student engagement.
  • Direct and assess student progress in achieving theory and performance requirements of the program.
  • Monitor student progress and follow-up as needed.
  • Provide weekly feedback reports to the ADON, DON, SVPAA, and COO.
  • Maintain relevant licensures, certifications, and other required maintenance of paperwork for personnel file.
  • Maintain a minimum of eight (8) hours of Continuing Education Units (CEU's) annually.
  • Encourage students to submit course evaluations and use feedback to improve course delivery.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Participate in ACEN and other accreditation activities.
  • Comply with all governmental regulations and standards of accreditation.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
