About The Position

The position involves teaching courses in the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program, which includes lectures, laboratories, and clinical experiences. The teaching assignments may utilize alternative delivery systems, such as online or web-supported courses, and may include non-traditional scheduling. The faculty member will collaborate with the Faculty Team, Simulation Lab Coordinator, Program Director, and clinical affiliates to plan and implement educational experiences. Responsibilities also include maintaining evaluation and attendance records, as well as other documentation as required by the program and the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in nursing required (BSN may be accepted with current progress towards an MSN).
  • Current unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the state of Kansas.
  • Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) required.
  • Minimum of two years nursing experience providing direct patient care.
  • Teaching experience in an associate degree nursing education program preferred.
  • Ability to incorporate study skills and adult learning theory into teaching strategies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with diverse populations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and willingness to collaborate.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in a student-centered environment.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform various physical tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses (lecture, laboratory, and clinical) in the ADN Program.
  • Participate in planning and implementing educational experiences in collaboration with faculty and clinical affiliates.
  • Maintain evaluation and attendance records as requested.
  • Participate in the continuous evaluation of the nursing program as defined by the Kansas State Board of Nursing and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
  • Contribute to the development of the ADN Program self-study and preparation for accreditation site visits.
  • Serve on program and institutional committees.
  • Attend work regularly and comply with HutchCC policies and procedures.
  • Participate in faculty development activities and maintain professional requirements of clinical affiliates.

  • Full-time faculty position with nine months annual + 10 additional days (180 work days per contract).
