The Nursing Informatics Specialist is responsible for the design of clinical information solutions specifically as it applies to nursing applications to enable the delivery of safe, effective, and high quality patient care. In similar fashion, leads information technology innovations, deployment, and optimization efforts based on the organization's clinical performance improvement objectives. Provides clinical subject matter expertise to translate data into information and actionable knowledge in the daily nursing and clinical practice. Works in partnership with Information Technology leadership and staff to translate clinician requirements into specifications for clinical information systems, to identify and prioritize system enhancements, and to redesign work flow in clinical areas. In support of department leadership, researches and recommends new applications and solutions for strategic and tactical clinical needs. Recommends and manages interventions to increase the acceptance and adoption of clinical applications and to encourage the use of information technology in the direct provision of care. Serves as a key liaison to nursing executives and the clinical user community by providing direction and education on clinical information initiatives.

  • Design clinical information solutions for nursing applications.
  • Lead IT innovations and optimization efforts based on clinical performance improvement objectives.

  • BSN required.
  • 3 years progressively responsible clinical nursing work experience.
  • Registered Nurse, licensed to practice in the State of Illinois.
  • Clinical Information Systems knowledge.
  • Self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn new technology quickly and adapt to changing environments.
  • Competence in presentations and public speaking.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to facilitate process design activities across departmental boundaries.
  • MSN in Nursing Informatics preferred.
  • 5 years in clinical setting and with information services or computer services.
  • Experience with information system implementation and support in healthcare.
  • Certifications in EPIC applications, Nursing Informatics Certified.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of products and related software.
