The listed minimum pay reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time). Minimum Pay: $94,556.80

Requirements

  • Master's Science in Nursing.
  • Two years nursing education experience.
  • Less than two years of nursing education experience will require mentorship with a current School of Nursing Instructor.
  • AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider.
  • Registered Nurse – NJ or Registered Nurse – NLC multi-state.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in faculty recruitment, selection, and mentoring.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of an effective faculty orientation program.
  • Participates in annual review of faculty job descriptions and makes recommendations to the Dean for changes.
  • Assists in the development and implementations of faculty/peer evaluation tools.
  • Performs a self evaluation and submits annually to the Dean.
  • Maintains records on grades, attendance, advising, and mentoring and submits required reports in the established time frame.
  • Grades student papers according to policy and returns them in a timely manner.
  • Uses the clinical evaluation tool to provide guidance to students and objective feedback and to measure student achievement of course objectives on a timely basis.
  • Maintains objective anecdotal notes of student’s clinical performance on a timely basis according to established procedures.
  • Counsels or guides students regarding their progress on an ongoing basis according to established procedures.
  • Assists in the development of student evaluation tools and methods that are evidence-based.
  • Assists students in developing self-evaluation and identifying learning needs.
  • Uses a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate student learning in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings, as well as in all domains of learning.
  • Reviews student performance with other faculty through course meetings on a regular basis.
  • Confers with course faculty where there is evidence of unsatisfactory performance and submits referrals to the APG committee according to established procedures.
  • Addresses student concerns and complaints in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Presents a caring attitude towards students.
  • Maintains professional rapport with students providing performance feedback in a consistent, timely and respectful manner on an ongoing basis.
  • Coordinates students’ assignments and activities on an ongoing basis to ensure appropriate learning experiences and adequate resources.
  • Participates in the organization and preparation of laboratory activities with other instructors and ensures sufficient equipment and supplies are available.
  • Coordinates activities with other faculty in other courses to ensure effective use of facilities and equipment.
  • Participates in the evaluation of all clinical facilities in light of course and clinical objectives and makes recommendations to the course team prior to each course.
  • Assists in the assessment of needs for educational supplies including audiovisual materials, computer programs, and submits recommendations to the Dean or designee.
  • Assists in the assessment of needs for skill laboratory supplies and equipment and submits recommendations to the Dean or designee.
  • Assists in the evaluation of new equipment and instructional tools and makes recommendations to the Dean or designee on an ongoing basis.
  • Participates in the selection of instructional resources by annually reviewing and making recommendations according to established procedures.
  • Participates in the planning, designing, evaluating, and revising curriculum content on an ongoing basis and at annual SON Org workshop in accordance with the systematic plan of evaluation as needed.
  • Assists in the development of the Systematic Plan of Evaluation (SPE) and carries out SPE tasks as assigned and within the established time frame as needed.
  • Formulates and implements classroom and clinical objectives based on school, level, and course objectives.
  • Implements approved curriculum content on an ongoing basis.
  • Meets regularly with personnel in the clinical setting and facility to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, forwards recommendations to the course team, and conducts pre and post planning sessions.
  • Ensures clinical faculty receives a copy of course materials prior to clinical rotation.
  • Teaches assigned courses content, which is appropriate, accurate, current, and evidence-based, utilizing effective teaching strategies.
  • Instructs and guides students in the clinical setting as needed, and in laboratory setting utilizing effective strategies to facilitate learning.
  • Assists in the transfer of theoretical knowledge into nursing practice through stimulating pre and post conferences and acts as an effective facilitator.
  • Assists in the formulation of program outcomes and designing curricula that reflect contemporary health care trends and prepare graduates to function effectively in the healthcare environment.
  • Assists in constructing and evaluating tests according to sound educational principles.
  • Assists in the development of clinical experiences that facilitate student learning.
  • Maintains membership in appropriate professional organizations.
  • Develops an educational needs self-assessment and formulates specific goals annually.
  • Assumes responsibility for self-development of both clinical and teaching skills through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences and submits reports to the Dean on all educational conferences attended.
  • Maintains established office hours and appointment times to ensure availability to students.
  • Demonstrates commitment to personal and professional growth to ensure continued competence.
  • Attends required in-services and seeks learning experiences in areas of identified growth needs and reviews progress periodically with supervisor.
  • Keeps current in field by using a variety of methods such as attending staff meetings, reading work related literature, and research.
  • Develops and maintains competence in the role of nurse educator.
  • Assists students’ socialization into the nursing roles and integrate the values and behaviors expected.
  • Acknowledges that scholarship is an integral component of the faculty role, and that teaching itself is a scholarly activity.
  • Remains knowledgeable about the educational environment within practice area.
  • Serves as a course coordinator for assigned course(s) based on needs of the School of Nursing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
