About The Position

This position is the supervisory level of work providing nursing instruction and in-service training to licensed nursing and other staff at Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center (CTPHC). Duties are performed at CTPHC where care is provided to mentally ill patients who have been committed to MDH -CTPHC for committing felonies, and to those who are difficult to manage in a less secure setting and who have been deemed dangerous to themselves or others. This position is responsible for design, implementation and evaluation of the overall employee education program at CTPHC and performs the full range of duties and responsibilities under general supervision. This position is required to observe infection control precautions to prevent contamination and spread of diseases. This position may be required to lift patients or apply physical restraints. The work may require long periods of standing, walking, bending and reaching. It may also require hours other than permanent day shift.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two years as an instructor in a psychiatric setting.
  • Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties, which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
  • Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain a current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
  • Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in effective learning management system (LMS) using leadership experience.
  • Experience in forensic psychiatric nursing.
