The Nurse Education Specialist (NES) guides the orientation of new employees to the organization and their assigned groups or units. The NES welcomes new employees to the goals, philosophies, policies/procedures, role expectations, and other considerations to guide the new employee towards achieving role competency. The NES is a consultant, coach, mentor, and leader who collaborates with site nursing leadership and the System Professional Development Specialist Nursing (SPDSN) to support new employees during their orientation and ongoing learning. The NES supports and advocates for new employees throughout orientation by also supporting preceptors. The NES, in collaboration with the SPDSN, assesses and identifies ongoing education needs for all department staff. This role will be supporting the NICU Level IV and NICU IMC units at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital.
