Nursing Department Navigator
About The Position
Great Basin College (GBC) is seeking a Nursing Department Navigator who will work as part of the GBC nursing department team at all sites to recruit, advise, track, and market for potential AAS and RN-BSN nursing students throughout Nevada. This is a full-time position and can be located in Elko or Pahrump. The successful candidate will be responsible for student navigation responsibilities at all GBC sites. The navigator will work in partnership with nursing faculty towards increasing nursing application numbers. This position will be required to work on some weekends, and at times have flexible hours. Great Basin College (GBC) is excited to invite applications for the position of Nursing Department Navigator to join our dynamic nursing team. This role plays a crucial part in guiding and supporting prospective students throughout their journey in the AAS and RN-BSN nursing programs as well as marketing these programs to prospective students. This position is open to candidates who are excited to help students meet their educational goals and collaborate across multiple GBC campuses. This position is grant-funded through June 30, 2027. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funds.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent, plus two (2) years of experience in clerical support, advising, student navigation, or marketing/recruitment OR an Associate degree or higher OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in basic computer operations, including Microsoft Office.
- Self-motivated with a positive and proactive attitude.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with students, faculty, and colleagues in a team-oriented environment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous advising or navigation experience is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Actively recruit new students for GBC’s nursing programs, working to increase application numbers across all campuses
- Develop and maintain knowledge and professional understanding of GBC’s nursing programs, including pre-requisites for each program, application requirements, application process, possible career pathways following successful completion of each program, and any program changes.
- Advise prospective and current nursing students, monitor their academic progress, and help guide them through the application process.
- Seek out and represent GBC at local and regional career fairs, college events, and community outreach activities to promote our nursing programs.
- Work with faculty and staff to develop and implement effective marketing strategies for nursing program recruitment.
- Keep accurate records of student advisement sessions and track potential applicants for each admission cycle.
- Participate in college-wide initiatives and serve on committees as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee’s spouse or domestic partner.
