On our General Surgery 5D Unit, you will be caring for Lutheran's Bariatric, Neurology, Spinal, and Orthopedic surgery patients. As Nursing Department Assistant II on our team, you will be facilitating this goal by creating a safe and healing environment, providing for patients' activities of daily living, performing various support tasks, documenting patient condition and transporting patients and errands as directed. A caregiver in this role works days from 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Critical thinking, customer service, teamwork and multi-tasking skills

Responsibilities
- Provide for patients' daily living activities.
- Responsible for transporting visitors and patients via wheelchair, cart or bed.
- Practice injury prevention.
- Maintain established levels of supplies.
- Ensure safety of self and patient when transporting or transferring patients.
- Perform other transportation functions as required, including but not limited to delivery of patient specimens, medical records and patient care equipment.
- Collaborate with members of the health care team to promote the delivery of patient care and overall functioning of unit.
- Maintain, clean and adjust department equipment including wheelchairs as needed.
- Observe and report changes in the patient's condition on an ongoing basis.
- Give or assist with hygiene/care.
- Document in the patient record reflecting the care provided.
- Keep patient areas neat and uncluttered.
