At New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, the Nursing Companion role is designed for nursing students to provide invaluable care to patients. This position involves serving as a critical point of contact for patients and their families, partnering with Registered Nurses to deliver compassionate patient-focused care. Responsibilities include performing select care duties under RN supervision, assisting with routine tasks like daily hygiene, bed making, and safety precautions. The companion is expected to build strong rapport with patients and families, communicate observations to RNs while maintaining patient privacy, infuse energy and hospitality, prepare patients for mealtime, assist with transport, and report any patient concerns to the care-giving team. This is a per diem day flex position, requiring at least one shift per week.
